In the words of the late James Gandolfini when Michael Imperioli was laying on the hospital bed after being shot in the stomach by Lillo Brancato, “How did I let this happen?”.
In the wee hours of the night, Bossolt can be heard saying the same thing. When he’s not whipping snow balls at parked cars, in his own apartment complex parking lot no less, he is wondering what happened with Deebo Samuel. Let’s recap what happened on the Saturday night of November 2 at 5:01 PM.
Boss received Deemo Samuel and David Montgomery while Taran received Rachaad White and Kareem Hunt.. But what you don’t know is that, that was just the cherry on top of the sunday, because what happened jsut 1 week prior on Friday Night, October 25 at 9:09 am, Boss traded disgraced Gooners GM, Isiah Pacheco and Raheem Mostert (honestly don’t blame him for getting rid of these two), for Rachaad White (who’d go on to be trade bait) and Keenan Allen.
Now I will say that Montgomery has helped an absolute ton because the guy is a TD machine but this trade made Boss think he had depth at WR but it was fools gold and fools gold blinds us, it prevents us from playing the FA market and getting real good value. And that’s what happened here. Let’s take a look at the numbers:
– Over the last 6 weeks Montgomery has averaged 15 ppg. Astounding
– Deebo has averaged 5.6 ppg over the last 6 weeks since the trade was made…
– I was shocked when I saw this but Rachaad White has been going off. I mean border line nuclear. He’s been averaging 16 (!!) ppg since the trade…. oof
– Listen I don’t fault Boss for giving up Pacheco. He was on IR for a long time and eating up a roster spot (that would soon become Deebo/Keenan Allen), but he’s averaged 7ppg in the 2 games since his return which is 1.5ppg higher than Deebo
– Mostert is a dud, good job dealing him
– Keenan Allen hasn’t been doing too bad. He helped you win in week 13 with a 24 point performance, but he has only surpassed 10 points twice since the trade. Both happened to go for 24 points in consecutive weeks. Be interesting to see what happens moving forward with a floundering Bears offense.
All in all, trading Rachaad White was an absolute dagger. Hes been on a tear since the trade and has been outscouring Deebo+Allen in every week but 1.
