The veil of uncertainty has been lifted and the clouds have begun to reveal the sun. We’re almost at the end. If you haven’t been catching up in the group text, I truly don’t blame you as there’s a lot of nonsense, so this is to catch you up on who’s vying for the playoffs and some predictions as to who makes it and who does not.
Boss vs Dave
This is one of the most pivotal matchups of the week as it may even be a first round matchup in the playoffs. Dave has all but clinched, but Boss is fighting for his life. Losers of 2 straight, he just needs 1 more win and boy did he get off to a hot start. Boss was leading this matchup by about 20-30 points since Thursday until Bucky Irving single handedly brought Dave back into contention. Jalen Hurts could have put the game away with 16 first half points but was only able to muster 2 points in the second half. If you watched the first half of the Bills-49ers game, you can see the making of a CMC career game unfolding, that is until he was sidelined with a PCL injury that’ll likely end his season. Like I said, Dave has all but clinched, but Boss… He goes into a MNF game trailing by 7 points on the dot with 1 player left… Browns TE David Njoku. If Boss loses, he plays a league-wide proclaimed super team that has won 10 straight (!) in a win-and-in scenario, not to mention arch rival, Kirk’s 5th Interception.
Bryon vs Luke
Once the hottest team in the league. Luke rode a 4 game win streak out of no where, absolutely trouncing opponents and giving him a top 3 PF league wide standing. Why is this matchup important? Well, if Luke loses to Bryon this week, which is certain to happen, being down by 32 with only Courtland Sutton left to play, then Luke may very well miss the playoffs since he plays Dave in the final week of the season. I dont know if anyone has had a more roller coaster season than Luke.
Gault vs Moxie
All of the drama comes down to this matchup. Gault is the only basement dweller that could realistically content for a playoff position. With Kevin shitting the bed before the trade deadline and then losing to Legacy this week, it all comes down to Gault being able to take care of business vs Moxie, which he did.
Looking ahead to next week:
Gault faces off vs Caden. If Gault is a contender and not a pretender, then he’ll have to prove it against the JR Smith of fantasy football teams. A win vs Caden and a consecutive loss by either Boss or Luke guarantees Gaults entry into the playoffs. A real last second charge that is very fun to root for. But…. like I said, it’ll take back-to-back losses by either Boss or Luke.
Luke vs Dave. Dave goes into this matchup facing injuries and bye weeks. If Luke cannot pull off a win vs a hampered Dave roster, then it was never meant to be. Lukes team has seemingly come back down to earth so next week is a total tossup, but I have to say that the odds appear to be in Lukes favor. Despite blowing a huge lead vs Bryon this week, I think Luke should pull it off.
Boss plays me in the last game of the season. A full season of hatred and animosity comes down to this. Boss failed to show up for his court date last week and the dishonorable judge of the 666th circuit in the Southern District of NY, Zach Robinson, condemned Boss to eternal damnation. Boss just needs 7.5 points to beat Dave this week and stave off missing the playoffs. To be honest, I think it’s a total toss up whether or not Njoku gets over the hump. Sure it makes sense, but we’ve seen him disappear and this Broncos defense is legit.
First 2 OUT:
– Kevin (death by trade deadline)
– Boss
First 2 IN:
– Gault
– Luke
It comes down to this… Does Luke have a higher likelihood of beating Daves injured and bye week riddled roster next week than Njoku getting more than 7 points in state where Cleveland hasn’t won more than twice in over 30 years? Luke is down JT and Sutton next week, but Dave is down CMC and Nico Collins. I just think Luke is in a slightly better position than Boss.
